Realm royale 100k tournament6/20/2023 ![]() KEEMSTAR currently runs another weekly tournament that takes place on a Friday for the game Fortnite, partnering with the tournament organizer UMG. ![]() Mount up alone or with a team to explore a fantasy world while outrunning the deadly fog. The prize pool for this recurring tournament is $20,000, though this is due to restrictions put in place by EPIC Games. These weekly Fortnite tournaments have been extremely popular with players and streamers alike and Realm Royale will be no exception, hopfully acting as a proof on concept to put a structured Realm Royale league being put in place.Well, not really Hi-Rez Studios, because the studio has recently decided to compartmentalise their efforts by splitting into three sub-studios under Hi-Rez's umbrella. With the company currently juggling Smite, Paladins and Realm Royale, it has been decided that the team in charge of Realm Royale will be called Heroic Leap Games. Ironically enough, Realm Royale's heroic leap seems to not have worked, because the game's population has been on a downward path ever since it launched. Even though this is perfectly normal, since no game retains the population it has at launch, Realm Royale's decline seems a bit steeper than that. Having peaked at 105,440 players on Steam in June, the signs were great because apparently, no recently launched battle royale games have managed to break the 100K mark. Unfortunately, Realm Royale's population now stands at slightly upwards of 5,000, which makes for a 100K loss in two months. That's not to say that the situation is alarming or anything, since Realm Royale is currently in closed beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which is bound to boost numbers significantly. There's also a small matter of Keemstar Thursday Realm Royale, which is a weekly tournament worth $100,000. I'd go as far as to say that this alone won't let the pop drop below 5,000.Įven though comparing player complaints to population may not always correlate to actual reasons of them leaving, it at least provides insight into potential game-breakers. Apparently, most of the players' grievances are related to weapon imbalances and hitscan issues, the latter of which has plagued Paladins as well, and arguably still does.
